South East Colorado

Hi! So our plan to go west and north has worked out great. We’ve avoided all that insane weather in the east ( those poor people in Oklahoma, Louisiana etc. )

We found a place near Pueblo, Colorado which is in the middle of nowhere but in the middle of everything. The RV park is literally in the middle of a field but we have amazing views of all the nearby mountain ranges right out the trailer doors and windows. We can see Pikes Peak, Greenhorn (Wet Mountains), the Spanish Peaks, La Veta Pass and the Sangre de Cristos.

The sunsets are beautiful

as are the storms that seem to set up almost every afternoon over the mountains…..not that you can see them then. Normally we can see Pikes peak to the north but not this day!

Most of the time the rain misses us but there have been flash floods in some of the towns closer to the mountains. And it’s been HOT! A few 90F days and we are extremely grateful for the little bit of shade that one big tree provides in the late afternoon.

We’re about an hour south of Colorado Springs so lots to see and do there and some amazing hiking only about 20 minutes west in Canon City. Plus we’ve even spent a couple of days paddle boarding at Lake Pueblo State park which is beautiful and refreshing.

And of course we’ve been glued to the TV watching the Raptors in their first NBA finals…currently up 3-1 and fingers crossed they put it away tomorrow night and win game 4 at home. GO RAPTORS! We’ve been proudly flying our #wethenorth flag as the token Canadians here, I’m sure most of our RV neighbours have no idea what our flag is all about , LOL!!!

More pics to come soon!
