Lake Pueblo State Park

This was a find! The park is only about a 20 minute drive from where we’re staying and on our first visit all we planned to do was hike. However, once we got a look at the lake we knew we’d be back to paddle board. In fact we we’ve been back 4 more times, it was fantastic….except for all the boats and jet skis making waves. Sometimes we had wake coming at us from multiple directions….needless to say there were falls off the boards and lots of paddling on our knees. Still great exercise and an excellent way to stay cool on a hot day in the 90sF.

Recent days have been starting out nice but by 2 or 3 in the afternoon, storms gather in the mountains and man the sky gets black. One afternoon we were out on our boards and could see a storm coming in the distance but before we could get back, man the wind picked up fast and hard and we had to paddle right into it. Sometimes we were paddling in place…crazy, very happy to get back and packed up because not long after I took this pic, it poured!!! More pics from the park.
