Kentucky visit

Spent a couple of nights at Vic and Cindy’s place just north of Lexington Kentucky. We met them in Huntington Beach State Park and got to know them better at Hunting Island State park during February. The 4 of us shared lots of stories and lots of laughs, so when they invited us to stop by their place on our way home, we just had to go check out their homestead.

The drive down into the “holler" (local Kentucky back woods speak for ravine or valley) was interesting to say the least. Thank God they were running point because the road was pretty much one way and we wouldn’t have been able to back up very easily with the trailer. After much winding around and going down, we ended up here.

It wasn’t snowing when we arrived on March 11 but it did snow overnight and it made everything white the next day. Pretty but hey it’s March, we’re over snow!!! Friggin’ Nor’easters just won’t stop. We went about 30 minutes south that day for a drive and lunch and they had about 6” of white stuff! Dodged that mess!

Vic built most of the house and the garage/loft himself, what a lot of work but what a beautiful property and home they have. And I must also admit it was sooooo nice to be in a regular size house and a comfy bedroom (middle pic right) after spending 5 months in the truck camper.

Cindy and Vic made us feel right at home, we totally enjoyed our stay with them. Too bad they’re giving up the RV life. Not that I blame them when they have a property like this to keep them busy. But…aren’t you supposed to downsize when you retire???? LOL!

Bella, their senior golden retriever was happy to be home and to be able to go outside without a leash on. I think this was her don’t bug me, I’m resting in front of the fire look!

Thanks again guys for having us over, hope to see you again in our future travels.
