July HOT!

Once we were done in Cambridge, we headed to Windsor to visit my cousin Heather and my good friend Cheryl.  I really enjoying catching up with them. Spending more time with family and friends has been an unexpected benefit of our nomadic lifestyle, no excuses not to visit. Until now, I don’t think I realized just how much working and maintaining our farm tied us down.

After that, went back to the beaches around my Dad’s in Sarnia. Nothing cools you down faster on a hot sticky day than jumping into good old Lake Huron! Plus, being close to the water also gave us the chance to practice on our new SUP board. There was one absolutely PERFECT day, the lake was crystal clear and totally flat. I could see right to the bottom while I was paddling...that rarely happens on this lake!

I think just about every day in July was sunny and hot, highs in the 30’s C but mother nature cooked us on July 21st. We were staying at Ruth’s, Dave’s sister’s place near Newmarket, and at 4:14 pm check out the temperatures in the pic on the left. Yes, it was 32C inside the house..she doesn’t have air. Not any better outside, almost 40C and not much cooler in the shade. I’m pretty sure records were broken in the Toronto area that day. We thought we were going to melt so we went out for dinner that night...spent $70 just to be in air conditioning for 2 hours...it was totally worth it!

We spent the last week of July house sitting for Al, Dave’s brother, also near Newmarket. That’s where we keep our trailer when we’re not traveling so we spent the week giving it a good cleaning. It’s not an easy job cleaning the roof and sides of 38 ft trailer. Lots of work but worth it in the end, the trailer looked brand new. We even waxed some of it so we’ll see if really does prevent bugs from sticking to it once we get back on the road.

Check out the Album.
