Cheyenne Mountain State Park, CO

We could easily live in Colorado! The hiking opportunities are pretty much endless and the more acclimatized you get to the elevation and the better your endurance gets, the options are endless.

Just south of Colorado Springs is a state park called Cheyenne Mountain. The RV part of it was fully booked up (until Sept) and we knew why when we saw it…great facilities and the sites were big, paved and full hook up and the prime ones had phenomenal views of the mountain. We just went for a day hike ($8) and ended up doing a 7 mile loop with almost 900 ft elevation gain. One of our longest hikes. We didn’t make it very far up the mountain but we made it to the Dixon trail head that does. From there it's 6 ¼ miles up with 3,000 feet of elevation gain. Not exactly an easy hike after doing almost 4 miles just to get there! Maybe someday in the future. Here’s pics from our hike.
