Our kitty

Oh yeah, keep meaning to introduce you to our pussy cat! There are a handful of feral cats living in the campground which I think the administration tolerates because they help keep the mouse, rat etc population under control.

Most of them are very skittish. In fact as soon as they see you, they take off…except for this one. When we first met a month ago she would hang back and watch us. We were torn about feeding her because it’s not a good idea to get a feral cat relying on people for food unless you know it’s going to continue. Some places we’ve been in the past strictly prohibit feeding them unless you plan on taking the cat with you when you go. Fair enough.

But, we just couldn’t resist. We didn’t go out and buy special cat food but any time we have left over tuna, salmon, clam juice, fish skin…..stuff she might naturally get in her diet, we save it for her. Then every few days, when we see her doing the circuit around the remaining campers, we call her and she comes running for it. She sure licks the bowl clean and I know during the cold snap it helped to keep her warm.

No way will she come close enough to be touched but that’s probably a good thing and we’re not trying to encourage it. Best she stays as wild as possible, with a just a few treats in between. We still haven’t named her which helps to keep us from getting too attached to her, we just call her “our kitty”.

Getting every last drop!

All done!

Lip smacking good…..got anymore?
