Since more and more campgrounds are closed in the north, we’re heading south. Decided to suck it up and just drive for 3 days and stay in hotels while the travelling weather cooperated.
Since the L.L. Bean flagship stores in Freeport Maine were on the way, stopped for a few hours for lunch and some shopping. Kinda disappointed, although their merchandise is good quality, just too expensive to buy much, even at their outlet store due to crappy exchange rate. Got a picture on the famous boot though.
Drove thru Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. Managed to avoid Boston and New York. We’re just not big city people and we don’t like traffic. But we got stuck in enough of it even on the routes we took.
In 4 days we drove about 1,060 miles and are now at the Bethpage camp resort in Urbanna Virginia. We stayed at this same resort during the same time in 2009 on our second road trip. But boy things have changed! They are Hallowe’en crazy here. We arrived on the 21st right in the middle of the golf cart parade and trick or treating at 3 in the afternoon. It was, insane….I actually wanted to leave it was so jam packed. But Dave managed to get us into our site without running over anyone (miracle!).
More from Hallowe’en central later!
