This is a very popular Florida state park (right on the east end of the panhandle) so you have to book it well in advance if you want to stay for a week or more in the winter. We made our reservation last September, good thing we did because it was full.
This was our first time camping here and the sites are relatively large and spacious. Quite a few of them were designed for trailers up to 43ft. long so there were lots of big rigs like ours there. It’s also one of the most peaceful parks we’ve ever camped in, no traffic, trains or city noises, just nature. Very relaxing!
There really isn’t much to do on the island except enjoy the gorgeous beach, but that’s why we came here and that’s just what we did. We biked, walked and fished (with limited success). Weather was sunny just about every day but not warm enough to really work on the tan except for our exposed faces, feet and hands while we were surf fishing.
