Back in Florida and roof repairs

ROOF REPAIRS - Most of the gutter to right of the arrow was smushed. Lucky the awning didn’t caught by the tree.

The flight back to Orlando from CR was uneventful, which is a good thing. Didn’t take long to get the trailer set back up. Nice to be back in our own stuff.

The next day was hotter than it was in CR. Apparently 86F was almost a record high, perfect for the beach but not the best weather to unpack and reorganize in. And, oh yeah, did I mention roof repairs? Dave noticed that most of the gutter on the right top side of the trailer was smushed and some of the rubber roof was torn. What the $%#*? Neither of us remembers the trailer hitting anything and there was no way we were even close to any trees on that side when we pulled the trailer out of storage the day before.

Based on where the damage was, we had to have hit something making a left turn. The only time we did that in a tight situation was when we put the trailer into storage back in January when we left for CR. Sure enough, Dave found the scrapes on a tree, on the right had side, where we had to squeeze over to make the tight left. We made that move in the early morning, before it was light out so neither of us noticed how close the tree was. Didn’t feel the trailer hit it either so we must have just barely caught it. And no, I wasn’t driving, it was Dave!

So for the better part of our first 3 days back, we (mostly Dave but I did help a lot!) took off damaged parts, scraped off old caulking, cleaned the rubber roof, installed a new gutter and repaired the roof with this waterproof tape called Eternabond (great stuff!) Pain staking, nit picky work but it had to be done and so far, so good...no leaks! Welcome home!
