This marks the spot where the old highway thru the Cumberland Gap used to be. Closed once they built the tunnel thru the mountain, now it’s a well used hiking trail.

The pinnacle

View of the Pinnacle from the Gap, we hike up there, 3.3 miles from the campground, 3.6 miles back.

I’m getting over my fear of heights! This was another overlook at the top of the ridge on the way to the Pinnacle.

We’re going to hike up to the top of that ridge to the Hensley Settlement

Once we got to the top, hiked another mile on the ridge to the Hensley settlement. An old community in a flat part on top of the ridge. The arrow points to where we entered it.
