Bye Alabama!

Andrea, Heidi, Bill and friends!

Finally, after 2 weeks, the not so quiet neighbourhood in Prattville, Alabama can return to normal now that those two Canadians have left. Time for all of us to detox! :-) Many glasses of wine & beer have been consumed over these past 2 weeks during some excellent meals and conversation.  Lucky for us we never had to work the next day, I’m sure Tom and Michelle sure felt like sleeping in a few of those mornings but couldn’t!

Can’t say enough about southern hospitality! Although it was unfortunate that Dave got hurt, it was a rare opportunity for me to reconnect with Tom, a cousin that I never spent much time with while we were growing up. He was part of the “younger crowd” and I spent more time with his older siblings back then.

Thanks to:

1. Zigi and Kim who let us use their garage apt the first week.

2. Val and Dave who provided the driveway and house for us to camp out at during the second week....and the pool!

3. Bill, for taking Dave to the local Texas hold ‘em poker game....that was an experience, he’ll always remember and hey, he actually came out a whopping $13 up!

4. Tom for arranging the tour of the Hyundai plant where he works. It’s a huge place, a great opportunity to see how humans and very large robots interact to assemble the Sonata’s and Santa Fe’s.

5. Michelle, for all those wonderful meals you cooked and shared with us. I had so much fun getting to know you these past 2 weeks. The “girl talk” was great!!!

6. Tom & Michelle....what can we say, thanks for convincing us to stay there longer than our original 3 days! Seriously though, we would have extended our visit if you’d just asked....you didn’t have to take us out on the boat so Dave could hurt his hamstring! :-)

All kidding aside, y’all are “THE BOMB”!

Next time we’re in the south, we’ll be back to visit our adopted family and friends in the neighbourhood! If we get back there in the fall, hope to see one of your football games Cameron and one of your Volleyball games Heidi! I know you’ll make the team.

Here’s a few more pictures from our visit...
