This small laid back town is on the east coast, on the Caribbean. It’s about an hour south of Lim. Loved the Jamaican vibe this place had. For more info about the area, check out the BLOG!

The “busy” main drag of Cahuita

The Playa Negra Guesthouse we stayed at for 2 nights. Rated #1 on Trip Advisor of all the B&B specialty type hotels in town.

The “Pool room” was a smart idea, included a fridge full of cold drinks available for a small charge.

The landscaping around the pool and rooms was really beautiful

Don’t know what type of tree this was but loved the wispy flowers on it.

On the Playa Negra right across the road from the hotel

I guess every once in a while storms wash all this debris down the streams and rivers to the ocean and it collects on the beach like this….too bad it happened just before we arrived.

Lots of manual labor involved to clean it up but they’re making good progress

Spider monkey, our first time seeing them!

One of the less exotic residents of the park….saw way too many of these guys in the barn at our old farm.

Apparently there’s good snorkeling here but you weren’t allowed to do it without a local guide which was kinda strange.

Did some research and found out he’s a Narrow Headed Vine snake, so lucky to actually see him on our hike.

This is the extremely bold, solitary white face monkey

Down to eye level, checking us out up close and personal!

He was seriously thinking about jumping on Dave

And one of the black sand beaches…this one debris free! Seemed like the beaches south of the one across from our hotel were spared.

But apparently not! Don’t think watermelon grows wild in the jungle.

These are the monkeys I was taking the picture of when another one jumped on my back, scaring the crap out of me!
