We stayed at the Arenal Observatory Lodge for 2 nights hoping to actually see the volcano this time and I’m happy to say we weren’t disappointed. Check out the BLOG!

Comfortable rooms, no TV, no phone, just a great view and mother nature to entertain us.

This little BUGGER :-) I mean bird (a fly catcher) was always hanging out on our deck chair, staring in the window, talking loudly at us. He always left us a gift too! Shit all over our chairs!

This was where all the socializing took place, everyone wanted to relax, drink and gab here after a day of hiking, rafting etc.

These hanging flowers are everywhere in Costa Rica. I believe they’re call Daturas.

This was the view of the volcano from our room the day we arrived. You’re correct, can’t see anything!

Next day, after we got back from the zip line tour, it started to clear up. My god, there really is a volcano up there!

Wow, we actually got a glimpse of the top! The left side of the volcano is where the new lava is flowing, the right side is green with growth now. We were so happy to see this, we heard some people had been in the area for 30 days and still hadn’t seen it. We were LUCKY!!!

The view from the room, awesome isn’t it! The peak was only visible for a few seconds, just had to be in the right place at the right time to see it before it clouded over again like this.

The suspension bridge we had to cross to get from our room to reception or to the restaurant. Dave needs to learn to walk lightly, he bounced me all over this every time we were on it.

Quick 20 minute hike to this waterfall was right on the property.

Not sure what these guys were. Colorful, yellow tail somethings…..noisy suckers though!

These were the strangest birds, the sound that came out of them when they flipped like this one guy almost sounded like it come out of both ends of them. Indescribable!

Restaurant we stopped at for lunch in La Fortuna, the guide book said it was rocket shaped and they were right. Looked a bit outta place but food was tasty!

One of the narrow bridges on the resort road, pretty good water flowing due to rainy season downpours. This was the BUMPIEST unpaved road we’ve been on so far!
