LOVE THIS PLACE! - If you’ve never been here before, make sure you put it on your bucket list. The scenery in Banff National Park is incredible!
Lucked out and managed to get a last minute, 2 week long reservation in Banff National Park at the trailer campground in Lake Louise, Alberta. When we were here in 2009, we could only stay for 5 days but that only left us wanting more so we’re happy to be back!
Weather has been all over the map. A nice sunny day, then partly sunny, then just plain miserable and cold and rainy. We tried to match our long, hard hiking days with the good weather and then rest, do laundry etc on the crappy days. For the most part we were successful but there have been a few more, do nothing but read in the trailer days than I would have liked but you can’t control Mother Nature can you? Would be nice if she sent some of that hot, summer weather from Ontario out here!!! Actually, I’m glad it’s not that hot & humid here, hiking in about 80F weather is perfect....when we get those days.

Wildlife and scenery on the Bow Valley Parkway (Hwy 1A between Lake Louise and Banff)
July 12 - Lake Agnes Hike (Lake Louise Area, Banff NP) - 6.8 K round trip, 385 m elevation gain
July 13 - Twin Falls Hike (Yoho NP, BC) - 16.4 K round trip, 300 m elevation gain
July 16 - Bow Glacier Falls Hike (Ice Fields parkway area, Banff NP), 9.2 K round trip, 155 m elevation gain
July 17 - Rockbound Lake Hike (Bow Valley area, Banff NP), 16.8 K round trip, 760 m elevation gain
July 19 - Mount Fairview Summit (Lake Louise area, Banff NP), 10.2 K round trip, 1013 K elevation gain. This was our favourite hike, incredible views from the top.
July 20 - Drive to Radium Hot Springs in Kootenay NP, BC. Not the most exciting day except for the moose sighting. The second one on this road trip!
July 21 - Bow River Loop (Lake Louise campground/village, Banff NP), 7.1 K round trip, no elevation gain.
July 22 - Sentinel Pass Hike (Moraine Lake area, Banff NP), 11.6 K round trip, 725 m elevation gain.
July 23 - Plain of Six Glaciers, Big Beehive, Lake Agnes (Lake Louise area, Banff NP) 18 K round trip, 500 m elevation gain. Longest hike, probably our second favourite hike here.
