The trip to Texas was relatively uneventful as we managed to avoid any major snow storms and bad weather. It was freaking cold for the first two days and we needed to use the block heater (that broke just before we left, thank God Dave fixed it!). The third day Dave was pretty sure the starter on the truck was just about done and he was right. Luckily he had arranged for us to stay at a hotel right beside a truck repair shop where they had plenty of space for us to drop the trailer while the truck was being worked on.
So after 4 nights in hotels, we made it to Texas, Texarkana to be exact on Jan 29. RV park was nothing special, we just needed a place where we could set up, get organized and dewinterize the trailer. For some reason this place loved their roosters.
From there we went a few more hours south to Tyler State park where we stayed for about 10 days. It had some good hiking trails that we took advantage of when the weather cooperated. We had some days in the 80s which would be followed by miserable cold almost freezing days. All I can say is that this Toyhauler is 500 times more comfortable than that tiny little truck camper.

After that we drove another 4 more hours south to a private RV park on Lake Livingston. It’s quite a nice area, and it’s a big lake that must get crazy busy in the summer time. Pretty quiet while we were there, so we spent some time exploring the area and the local state park which is also on the lake.
