Stopped at this park, right on the Manitoba/Ontario border for 5 nights. The beach campground on Falcon Lake was OK but not great, a bit run down feeling to it due to the crowds (and screaming kids) it attracts since it’s right near the water. On the plus side, the price for an electric site here was only $18.90/night plus park vehicle fees of about $4/day vs. over $40/night for a similar site in an Ontario Provincial Park!
We checked out a few of the other campgrounds in the park and if we come back, we’d go probably go to the Falcon Lake, Lakeshore one instead. Quieter there since it’s further from the beach and the sites here in Bay 1 & 2 were gorgeous. Huge with water and electric and some right with water views. Made the beach campground we were in feel like the slum of the park.
Unfortunately the temperatures cooled off quite a bit during our stay so we didn’t have many beach days. When it was nice we hiked instead. Found a challenging one that was 12.6 K return. The challenge here wasn’t the extreme elevation changes like in Banff but that actual trail itself. Lots of rocks jutting out as well as tree roots to navigate around. In fact, I managed to trip my self up near the end of the hike and I have the bruises on my butt to prove it. Landing on pointy rocks hurts!!!!
