BAD TRAVELS

This is the slower, scenic route between Lake Louise and Banff. The speed limit is only 60 K/hour because there is no fencing to keep the animals off the roadways. Animal jams happen frequently and just about every time we travelled this way, we saw some sort of wildlife. Check out the BLOG!

The very first animal we saw was this big bull elk.

Scratching an itch! Notice his antlers are still covered in velvet.

Our first grizzly sighting! He was up on a hillside, just outside of Lake Louise Village munching on the grass.

His fur looks extra scraggly because it was pouring rain out.

Just wandering around, putitng on a show for those of us lucky enough to drive by at the right time.

Black bear, way in the distance…..not sure how the first person to see him, even spotted him. We just followed the crowd.

Another elk and more stupid humans. Would only take a second for this guy to shove his antlers up their butts!

Traffic coming into the parkway off of Hwy 1 had to stop for a while so that the sheep could move off the road….and they took their time about it.

Biggest elk yet, a 7 pointer

Really stupid human pic, that black shape just off in the bushes is a black bear. He was only about 20 feet away from it and the park recommends you stay back 100 m from all bears for your own safety and theirs!!!

We watched him, from the car, for quite a while and this was the best pic I got. He created quite a traffic jam and there were plenty of stupid humans who got as close to him as the previous guy. Unbelievable!!!
