A nice place to stop on our way back to Ontario.Not the best beach weather during our stay but we like it here. Who knew there were such nice beaches in Manitoba? Check out the BLOG!

This pair of normally shy Pileated Woodpeckers seemed to have adopted the campground as their own. They hopped around the campsites looking for food/bugs. I’ve never seen them this close up before or so unconcerned about humans.

Our campsite. We had to switch to this pull thru when we weren’t able to back into the original one we reserved despite it being described as one that fit our trailer size. Lucky this one was available.

This small clump of trees provided a little privacy

The beach, a few minute walk from our campsite. No wonder the campground was filled with families, it’s a really nice spot. Sunny but very cool when I took this pick that’s why it’s deserted.

12.6 K return. Lots of up and down and a rough trail to follow so it was good challenge.

Red squirrels everywhere

Perfect moose territory but had to settle for watching this deer….at lest it was a buck!

One of the many lookouts on West Hawk Lake along the trail. This lake is the deepest one in Manitoba at 364 ft. As a result, it’s colder so no swimmer’s itch parasites live here, or so a local told us.

Don’t look Linda….it’s a garter snake

This lookout would have also been a great swimming spot.
