Beacon 44 RV park, great place to stay for only $225/month plus electric.

Our spot. The owners let us use 2 back in sites as one big pull thru. Very grateful for the litte shade that tiny tree provided. Most days here were sunny like this and mid 80’s

Heavy breathing outside our door….just Penny, the owner’s lab looking for handouts…every single night! No surprise she’s a chunky dog!

Big pond on the property, catch and release only but big catfish. Why fish here when the ocean is so close??

Brand new pool, they finished it just in time for us! Perfect for cooling off in after working out or going for a run. Behind is the club house where all the socializing happened.

The big jetty, about 1/2 mile long beside the barge canal. We baked in the sun and caught lots of fish here about every other day.

View back into town from the jetty. The entire town is made up of single family dewllings and fish camps.

As soon as anyone started up their electric knives to clean fish, these park ducks came running to the fish cleaning station for scraps.

Big fishing pier in water that is only about 4 feet deep. We didn’t have much luck here but some people do….

……like this guy. We were out on our bikes and were talking to these 2 local guys about fishing when he hooked something big….

There it is….it’s a BIG fish!

After about 20-25 minutes, he finally tired out the fish but they had no net to bring it up to the pier. His buddy got down into the water to help lift it up.

His prize, a Jack Cravelle just over 3 feet long. A pretty fish and a real fighter.

He was pretty excited, it was the biggest fish he’d ever caught. Huge adrenaline rush landing one like this.

The cool thing was that he let it go. He was all about the thrill of the catch. But, the fish had to back in the water the same way it came up, human assistance via his buddy.

If they’d just let the fish go, it would have died. He spent about 20 minutes walking it in the water, getting oxygen back into it’s system. It eventually swam away. Lucky FISH!

Dave’s surprise catch of the day, a 31” bonnet head shark. It was very tasty, fed the 2 of us for 2 nights.

This poor snake was in the wrong place and the wrong time….on the road just outside our RV park. Someone killed it but they aren’t venomous. It’s a rat/chicken snake.
