This is a MUST see if you’re ever in Albequerque, New Mexico. Our favourite day hike on this trip so far. Check out the BLOG!

Located north of Albuquerque, NM near the Indian Pueblo of Cochita.

If you can read this, it explains the history and the trails. The hike we did was only 3 miles return and the 640ft elevation change but it took us a couple of hours. Soooo much to look at!

Kasha Katuwe means “white cliffs” in the language spoke by the Cochiti tribe

There are hoodoos and tent rocks all over the cliffs

The canyon trail takes you behind that big white cliff into a slot canyon

The big trees made the scenery here even more stunning

Found the perfect spot for Mikey. A little cave where a rock used to be.

Dave in the slot canyon

Our first time in a slot canyon, it’s barely wide enough for one person here.

This is the chimney. Unique rock formations everywhere you look

Dave’s attempt to recreate “127 hours”. It’s a little creepy walking thru such a small space knowing that if a rock did fall, you’d probably be screwed!

Out the other side, now we hike up to the top of the cliffs.

These pointed tent rock formations are unique to only 2 places in the world, here and Turkey.

Never seen anything like this before

Can you see Dave? He’s beside the 3rd big bush from the left. It looks like he’s in the middle of the desert but he’s on the edge of the cliff. This is the view from the top.

Back down. Man it was hot! Hiking in a canyon is like hiking in an oven!

Going back into the slot canyon. It was at least 10 degrees cooler in there in the shade. Much appreciated!

In the Slot Canyon

In awe of Mother Nature!

We just hiked up there!

That little cave to the right of Dave was the “hi light” of this part of the hike. Pretty boring after being in the slot canyon.

It was made by archeologists.

They sure do look like tents!
