We spent 5 nights here, picked it as a destination because it was close to Carlsbad Caverns National Park (separate album). Other than that, there wasn’t really much else to see or do so I doubt we’ll return. Check out the BLOG!

The desert. Flat and little empty broken down shacks in th emiddle of nowhere. How did anyone live here???

Our site, spacious and lots of room for our truck and trailer. As you can see, not much shade though.

This was a beautiful morning

As you can see, desert all around the campsites, that’s Lake Brantley in the background.

If you look hard, there is beauty in the stark desert landscape. These prickly little flowering shrubs were everywhere.

Primitive camping was permitted down by the lake. Had we known we could have easily navigate our rig down here, we might have done it.

The lake is actually a big reservoir. Deep enough for boats but the water wasn’t all that inviting, easily stirred up and murky.

But then it was time to resume the search for snacks.

Around the campground they planted a few more drought tolerant trees and shrubs. The flower on this one is really eye catching.

This is the flower on the tree right beside our trailer. It was just starting to bloom, in a week it would be covered and gorgeous!
