This island is owned by the state of Georgia and by law, 65% of it will remain undeveloped which makes it a great place to enjoy it’s natural beauty. No wonder all those elite American families made it their private retreat in the late 1880’s. Check out the BLOG!

On this part of the beach we found all kinds of dead horse shoe crabs and lots of their molted shells

This is one of the feral kittens we were feeding at this site, affectionately known as “Whitefoot”

Georgia Sea Turtle centre was also on the island, had to go in here

Their sea turtle hospital treats “floaters” like this guy. In his case, they think he had a stroke and forgot how to dive so they’re trying to help him remember by velcroing a weight belt to him a few times a day.

This staff member explained in detail what each turtle had been diagnosed with and how they were treating them.

That signs says “caution tide covers sandbar 10’ depth, strong current” so at high tide, Dave would be underwater!
