This park was in rural Benton, Alabama....next closest big city is Montgomery. It’s run by the US Army Corp of Engineers. We found out they operate a lot of parks across the US and they are quite reasonable to stay at. $18/night for a premium site. We’ll have to check out more of them on our travels. Check out the BLOG!

Our first site had a great view of the lake, not that we got to enjoy it much since it poured for the 2 nights we were on it.

Edmund Pettus Bridge, Selma AL - Site of “Bloody Sunday”. On March 7, 1965 500 peaceful civil rights protestors marching to state capital, Montgomery were beaten with clubs by State troopers and Sheriff’s posse. TV footage of the event caused rioting in dozens of US cities.

Hunting is big in Alabama....on one side of the park road there was this sign.....

And this one on the opposite side.....seriously??? Dave and I had a lot of fun with this one, interpret as you will : -)

We decided to stay longer so we had to move to this site, still a decent lake view
