This abstract orange statue is called the “the torch of friendship” The work was commissioned by a group of Mexican businessmen living in the United States and friends of Mexico, and presented as a gift from the Mexican government to the City of San Antonio in 2002.

Dave was quite literally melting away during this walk, it was incredibly hot and humid down here. Even walking was tricky, very slippery and no railings to keep you from falling in that water.

Decided to skip up to street level to walk back to the Alamo. Passed by these skateboarding lions.

The Alamo is free to tour but after a few hours of sweaty walking, we didn’t want to stand in line to go into a crowded, space where the walls would have prevented any breeze what so ever.

Looking down/out at Canyon lake, it actually looked like it was blue and clear, unlike most of the water around here.

Motorcycle photo shoot….apparently you used to be able to walk across the top of the damm but they’ve closed it off….likley due to too many people doing stupid things, but the view would be amazing from it.

Just down the road this is where the Damm lets the waters from Canyon Lake flow into the Guadalope River which is very popular with tubers. Just across the way near that building is a launching spot.

Apparently all the rain this spring made for some amazing wildflower fields but they’re just about done and this is pretty much what’s left.
