Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, ON

About 30 minutes south of Thunder Bay, Ontario on Lake Superior

The campground within the park was on Marie Louise Lake, a lake within the peninsula that juts out in to Lake Superior.

Our cramped little site, we barely fit into this pull thru

Deer were frequently checking us out.

If we come back, we’d prefer to be at one of these huge sites right on the water…..you could fit 3 of our trailers on this site. I’m sure they get booked up early though.

Great view of the Giant from Marie Louise Lake. You can clearly see the head on the right, chest in the middle and then the legs. We hiked up to the top via the trail that goes up it’s feet.

A closer view of the sleeping giant from the Sea Lion. It’s the rock formation sticking out into Superior in the bottom right. This was at the beginning of our 24K return bike/hike.

The water was crystal clear but Freezing cold!

A look back at T-Harbor…..you can see why they named it that when you see it from the top of the giant.

Made it to the feet/leg end of the giant, this view is looking towards it’s head.

Sheer drop offs but hard to resist getting closer to take a look…the lake was so calm this day. Across the bay you can see the city of Thunder Bay but it was a bit hazy so it’s not very visible in this picture.

Amazing view! It was such a warm perfect summer day and an excellent spot for lunch

As close as I could get to the edge, couldn’t bring myself to look over!

I think the Grand Canyon hiking has really helped to decrease my fear of heights.

I was able to look down here…the water was incredibly clear and blue

We stopped back at the T-Harbor for a break and a swim but my legs went numb at the knees and I chickened out!

Dave slowly but surely made it in but I’m sure there was “shrinkage”!

Unbelievable!!! He actually managed to go all the way in….crazy man!

Thankfully he didn’t have a heart attack, he got out fast!

Bill thought he was crazy too!
