This district forms the southeast corner of Canyonlands NP and is named for the colourful spires of Cedar Mesa Sandstone that dominate the area. Check out the BLOG!

First trip here we just did a short 2.4 mile round trip hike over this slick rock. It's a strange surface to hike over, we were grateful for “sticky” soft soled boots.

That little arch on the right is known as the Wooden Shoe Arch

This is on the road to Canyonlands and was worth the quick stop to see it.

Just a few steps from the parking lot is this large rock covered with mostly what I would consider to be authentic petroglyphs.

When you see the big rock overhang above, you understand why it’s so well preserved.

I think these symbols are so cool!

Although most symbols seem to be the real thing you can see that some stupid person tried to add something more recent above the feet in the top left and it’s been scratched out.

This oddly beehive like formation on private property is on Hwy 191 at the turn off to Canyonland. Large turn offs are provided for all the travelers to stop and take pictures. Too bad you can’t walk up to it and check out the cave.
