We started our exploration of the French quarter with a 30 minute buggy ride for $15/each

Inside the Crescent City Brewery…loved the Jelly fish lamps. Had a very tasty lunch here, Dave had Jambalaya, I had crab stuffed shrimp.

This steamboat NATCHEZ is the last authentic steamboat on the Mississippi

Free passenger ferry. It goes back and forth between the French quarter and Algiers.

You know you’re in the south when motorcyclists feel like they have to make their own shade.

It was a totally different world in Algiers, peaceful and quiet

As soon as you get off the ferry in Algiers, you can get a cold beer at the Dry Dock cafe.

They played some great music.

This guy (don’t you love the crocheted cape?) came by on his bike and did some interesting things with the marionette.

Nice outside cafe, crappy service, OK food.

But I did finally get to satisfy my crawfish craving. They’re just coming in season now so still a little pricey but boy they were good.

No it’s not a snake, it’s an eel, my first one!

They move just like a snake on the ground. A bit tricky getting it off without touching it.

Fishing in comfort

These powdered sugar covered pastries are the beignets that everyone says yo should try when you come here. Very tasty but almost as much sugar as pastry.

Yeah those are what you think they are! Imagine walking around Mardi Gras with these beads around your neck!

It’s not a pretty ferry inside but you’re only in it for about 5 minutes.

This is a view of the convention block of the city. Not sure where all the army vehicles on the train were headed but there were lots of them.

Mulates is a famous cajun restaurant so we had to get something here.
