This park is one of our favourites so far. Spent 2 weeks here and thoroughly explored the area Check out the BLOG!

Great place, tried their Jumbo lump crab cakes, good but expensive treat. Tasty shrimp and fish too.

This Fox squirrel was hanging out by one of the MANY golf courses in the area, his unique colour caught my attention, he was a big guy .

This is one of the outer walls of Atalaya. It’s a square, 200 ft on each side. Like I said, looks more like a fort than a home

Inside one of the owner’s rooms. There are 30 rooms in total, half for the servants to live in and maintain the property. Cold and stark with all the brick, fireplaces in every room to provide heat.

Our first ‘gator and he was in the park. This guy was small, only about 3 feet and we were so close we could have touched him...but we didn’t. His big friends were about 6-8 ft long.

Don’t know what kind of spider this is, just glad I saw him before I walked into his web...he was BIG!

Just to put it in perspective, the birds are in the fresh water side, beyond the causeway is all saltwater marsh that leads to the ocean.

This ‘gator and his turtle friends were hanging out at a big lake in the Barefoot Landing shopping plaza

We moved from a site that was really shaded and enclosed, to this more open one. Much better to enjoy the sun when it finally came out. The tree here was amazing, see next pic.
