We loved the historic district here. Charleston is by far one of the nicest cities we’ve been too, and the lowest, it’s only 5 ft above sea level! Check out the BLOG, it’s a gorgeous place.

The pineapple fountain in the waterfront park, too cold to wade in on this visit but apparently the limit is 25 pairs of feet on a hot day.

The dungeon of this building is where some famous pirates, including Blackbeard where imprisoned at some point in history

City market, lots of people selling sweet grass baskets on the streets.

This is the the Old Slave Mart museum and where they actually auctioned off slaves, hard to believe!

We did this tour and it’s not called the OMG house for nothing! I can’t imagine being this rich!

The gardeners must get good bucks to keep up this place

The original ceiling in the front entrance, I’m pretty sure they said it was painted by the Tiffany and the small, real gold cameos are images of the children

This was the house across the street from the Calhoun mansion that the owner built for his son.

And this was the one built for the daughter down the road, it’s now an inn

Even the outside light fixtures are elaborate on these mansions

The Charleston waterfront

So many small places to gawk at

Even the places on the side street are huge and seem to go on forever!

Then you stumble on these tiny little places, only as wide as a driveway between the monster places. But they’re still immaculate.

A house owned by 10 generations of the same family

his is it, nothing fancy but cool to know it’s been in the same family for so long.
