This place is not a zoo. They take in orphaned/injured animals and reptiles and do what they can to nurse them back to health and return them to the wild. Go to this place if you’re ever in Puerto Viejo.

He’s free to come and go but he likes to hang out with the the other toucans that are still too young to be on their own.

The Fer-de-lance. One of the most aggressive and poisonous snakes found in CR. Based on what the tour guide told us about this guy, I hope we never see one in the wild.

Baby howler monkeys on our tour guide Drew and one of the other volunteers. We weren’t allowed to touch these guys, humans can transmit too many diseases to them.

We did get to go into the monkey play room and hang out with older howlers. This little guy had the softest hand.
