Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had fun over the holidays with family and friends, we definately did.
So quick update on the house, it’s SOLD! It firmed up the Friday before Christmas and the new owners are a nice young couple, Marc & Laura. It was a totally private deal and we’re all very pleased with outcome. (If you have yet to see our before and after reno pics, check them out here.)
It doesn't close until Feb 26th and since Dave and I have been pretty bored sitting around waiting for it to sell, we got off our butts, put our resumes together and started to look for a job. Yes, pick your respective jaws off the floor, I said job!
Believe it or not, we both got positions back at SLF! Full time, but contract positions, not permanent. I don’t think either of us can go back to that, but it’s the perfect opportunity to top up our bank account before traveling again. Dave started his job today, back in investments IT for 6 months and I start tomorrow, back in tax, helping out over year end until the end of March.
So where are we going to live once the house sale closes at the end of Feburary…..good question! We’ve been looking for another house in KW but it’s turning out to be a challenge to find what we want. Why? Because what we want is a house in the starter home price range of $200,000 - $300,000 that needs some work but isn't a total gut job like the last one. But, because we’re competing with people trying to get their first home, people seem to be paying way too much for crap so there’s very little upside for anyone like us wanting to do some home improvements, and make money when we sell, in short period of time. By short, I mean within a year. We hope to find something soon because we’d really rather not rent and pay someone else’s mortgage.
